1 SUMMARY AND FORECAST. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, La3t Night. The Metorological Department published the following summary and forecast at 5 p.m.:—Summary: The weather has been generally overcast and unsettled, with' rain in parts. The winds have been westerly, with a southerly tendency, and strong to a gale in parts at times, but decreased to-day. The barometer has been very unsteady, falling in the north and rising and falling again in the south. Forecast. Present indications are for cold and stormy everywhere soon. Rain is probable generally, with snow on the higber levels. The winds will probably increase again shortly, and high southerlies will predominate. The barometer is now expected to rise everywhere, and remain high for a short time, but another west 1 erly area of low pressure is due to pass in the south about the middle of next week.
