CAUGHT RED-HANDED. By Telegraph—Press Association. Auekl and, Tim rsday. Constable Hill saw a man enter the Clarendon Hotel through a trapdoor at 1 o'clock this morning;. With Constable Cowan listening outside, they heard the cash register ring. Roth entered the trap door and, -proceeding to the bar, discovered two powerfully-built men, who submitted to arrest quietly. One was hiding under the counter iind the other was trying to hide behind the partition. No money was missing. ACCUSED BEFORE THE COURT. Auckland, Thursday. Before the Police Court, Ernest Kircheath and Charles Reynolds, a fierman and a Canadian, were charged with breaking and entering the Clarendon Hotel, and were remanded till Wednesday.
