Mr. William Derrett, one of the oldest and most respected settlers of the Patea District, i.s leaving there shortly to take up his residence in Auckland.

Mr. E. Dixon has decided to stand for ( re-election as a representative for the Northern Ward on the Wangamii Education Board. Ho has already been nominated by several school committees, Mr. J. Ure Murray has been nominated for the vacancy l»y the Eltham Committee. The nominations close on July 1. The marriage of Mr. Harold Baker, of Wanganui, and well known in Eltham, to Miss Ada Isabel King was celebrated at All Saints' Church at Eltham on Wednesday. The bride, who is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. King, of Egmont Village, and a niece of Mrs. Lewis, of Eltham, was attired in a neat cream costume. There were three bridesmaids, Miss Baker (sister of the bridegroom), Miss Lewis (cousin), and Miss Wood's, who were dressed in heliotrope with black picture hats. Mr. William Baker was best man. After the ceremony, which was performed by the l!ev. <!. W. Dent, the wedding breakfast was held at Reilly's restaurant, where 35 sat down to a splendid repast. The presents were numerous and valuable. The happy | couple proceeded to Wanganui, where they will reside.
