Napier, Last Night. For the first clay of the Napier Park Club's winter race meeting there was beautiful weather and a large attendance. The course was a trifle heavy owing to recent rains. The saiinn< of £10,1570 was put through the totalisator, against £9479 for the first day of last] I year's meeting. The following are the details of the racing:— Moteo Hack Hurdle Handicap, of 100 sovs; one mile and three-quartres.—lo Nedra 1; 1 Julian 2, 4 Waipureka 3. 3 Faunus, 2 Bandalero, 5 Bismarck, II Sleacombe, G Nescot, 9 Master Stead, 7 Kildonan, 8 Aewa, and 12 Waiao also started. Won by six lengths. Time, 3min 21 4-osec.

Petane Hack Steeplechase, of 110 sovs; about two miles.—l Tyrannic 1, 7 Pukeroa 2, 2 Longboat 3. 3 The Chief and Wirihana (bracketed), 9 Whimper, 4 Don Carlos, 6 Pararahei, 8 Wheturangi, and 5 Quandary also started. Wheturangi, Don Carlos, Quandary and Whimper fell and Paparahei ran off. Julian, the rider of Quandary, had his collarbone broken. Won by ten lengths. Time, 4min 35 4-ssec. Stewards' Stakes, rf 150 sovs; one mile.—s Kilosteri 1; 8 Ladrone 2, 11 Moutoa Girl 3. 12 Sir Frisco, 3 Bollin, 5 Sublime, 6 Lord Renown, 4 Looji Mabin, 13 Bally Shannon, 1 Bonnie Boy, 2 San Pluie, 10 Mount Victoria, 14 Alexis, 9 Vi, and 7 Waikehua also started. Won by a neck, with a length between second and third. Time, lmin 48sec.

Napier Park Steeplechase, of 250 sovs; about three miles.—s Captain Jingle 1, 4 Donzel 2; 1 Continuance 3. 3 Sir Lethe, 2 Beeline, and 6 Morohiko also started. At. the sod wall Morohiko blundered and brought Sir Lethe down and Beeline pulled up. Won by a length. Time, 6min 42see. Ladies' Bracelet, of 75 sovs; one and a-quarter miles.—s Blend 1, 8 Manitau 2; 3 Comedian 3. 0 Rill, >6 Merrie Lad, 1 Prince Eddie, 3 Fair Average, 9 Ngakau, 4 Aurana, 10 Haurakia, 11 Tupaea, and 7 Morning also started. A RACEHORSE STOLEN.

Auckland, Yesterday. The racing mare Soultoria was stolen last night from stables at Pukekohet The footprints were traced 'to a spot where apparently a gig had*been waiting. Soultoria was led behind the vehicle.
