CRIMINAL IN A CATHEDRAL. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Budapesth, June 25. A man named Makkoe, who was sentenced to death for murder, escaped and entered the cathedral at Veszprem. He was pursued to the high altar during Mass, and was recaptured. SUPPOSED SPY SENTENCED. Berlin, June 25. Lichsoberger, a merchant, lias been sentenced to four years' imprisonment at Leipzig for having attempted to procure for a foreign Power a specimen of the latest projectile and a copy of the naval signal book. BANK CASHIER SENTENCED. Berne, June 25. The cashier of the savings bank at Bulach, which, failed with liabilities amounting to £280,000, owing to tha manager's speculations, has been sentenced to twelve months' imprisonment The manager, it will be remembered, committed suicide. SOME GOOD SHOOTING. Paris, June 25. The battleship Danton at firing practice made eighteen hits in four minutes, at ten thousand metres. A HUGE SUNSPOT. New York, June 25. A sunspot, covering an area of 78,000,000 square miles, was discovered | from the Mt. Wilson Observatory, California. Efforts to photograph the spot are proceeding.
OCEANA-PISAGUA COLLISION. London, June 25. The verdict of the court regarding the Oceana-Pisagua collision attributes it to the action of the chief officer of the Oceana in attempting to cross the bows of the Pisagua. The master and chief officer were severely censured. A MURDERESS LYNCHED. New York, June 25. A mob at Atlanta, Georgia, lynched a negro murderess. They carried her from the gaol in an automobile and hanged her to a tree. RUSSIAN VILLAGE BURNED. St. Petersburg, June 25. The village of Polany, near Rejoesan, consisting of five hundred houses, has been destroyed by fire. It was similarly destroyed two years ago. AN ANARCHIST PLOT. Vienna, June 25. The supposed anarchists who were arrested at Iglau disclosed a plot against the Archduke Josef and King Ferdinard of Bulgaria. Those arrested include Catanero, a priest, and Ipavic, a peasant. The latter declares that Catanero | offered him twenty pounds to throw | shrapnell into the Archduke's car. A j shell was found at Ipavic's house.
