AN ANGRY SCENE. By Cable—Prest Association—Copyright. London, June 25. There was an angry scene in the House of Commons at question time, Mr. Lansbury resenting a statement by Mr. Asquith that the suffragists could be released immediately if they undertook not to repeat their offence. He went to the Treasury bench, and shook his fist in the faces of Ministers, and screamed, "You should be turned out of office, and go down to posterity as torturers of women." The Speaker requested Mr. Lansbury to leave, but he refused. He was thrice warned, whereupon some Laborites prevailed on him to withdraw. AN EXTREME PROTEST. London, June 25. Altogether ten hunger striking suffragettes have been released. Miss Emily Davidson, the suffragette imprisoned for throwing lighted rags into a pillar letter box, threw herself down two flights of stairs, as a protest against forcible feeding, and had to be taken to a hospital. MORE WINDOW SMASHING. -fReceived 26! 10.50 p.m. London, June 26. A woman has been arrested for smashing windows in the lobby of the House of Commons as a protest against the forcible feeding of the suffragettes. Eleven windows in a train at Victoria station were smashed, and a note was left indicating that the action was a protest against the treatment of the suffragettes.
