New Zealand steamers are discharging slowly, and large shipments are arriving. Mutton.—The market is weak. Canterbury 4%d, North Island 3%d. Lamb.—The market is quiet. Thq shipments of lamb now arriving are very heavy, and high prices are restricting business. Canterbury f>%d, other than Canterbury 6d. Beef.—The market is dull. Supplies of American chilled beef are large. New Zealand hindquarters 4%d, New Zealand forequarters 3y 2 d. The average price for River Plate chilled hindquarters is 4%d, forequarters 3%d. Butter.—The market has a weaker tendency downwards. Supplies are increasing and the weather continues favorable to the increase in production at Home and on the Continent. Choicest New Zealand butter, per cwt;, 113s, Australian 107s, Danish 119s, Siberian 105s. Cheese.—The market is a shade weaker. The Home make, it is expected, will be large. New Zealand colored 725, white 71s; Canadian, colored 675, white 60s; English Cheddar, 90s. Hemp.—The market is quiet, but there is moderate business doing. Spot New Zealand good fair £22, New Zealand fair £22 10s>; fair current Manila £22. A forward shipment of New Zealand good fair sold at £22; New Zealand fair £2O 15s; Manila £22 ss. The output from Manila for the week was 190,000 bales. Wool.—The market is strong. Linseed.—The market is weak and inactive. Bombay, per quarter 4161b., 68s 6d; Plate, 645; Calcutta, per quarter 4101b., 68s. 1 Hops.—The market is slightly weaker, with less demand, on account of the fine weather for the Home crop.
