HIGH EPISCOPAL HONORS. ' ' _ 'r. By Telegraph—Press Association. Chris tchurch, Last Night. Bishop Grimes celebrated his silver episcopal jubilee yesterday. Special ser- *' vices were held at the Catholic Cattjet. 3 dral. During the morning service it waa T announced that a communication hact " been received from the Secretary of State, Cardinal Merry del Val, stating that Bishop Grimes had been enumerated aulongst: the domestic staff of the Pope, and had been proclaimed a noble, , and joined to the members of the homev nobles. He had been granted the privilege of private oratory, the privilege of wearing silk vestment', and the right of having a place in the Pontifical chapels reserved for bishops who were assistants at the throne. It is stated that the honor of bishop-assistant at the Pontifical throne is enjoyed by only fourteen other bishops in the English-speaking world. It was also announced during the service that the holy father had been graciously pleased, through the Patriarch of Jerusalem, to create Bishop Grimes, Bishpj> Kftight, Commander of the Holy Sepulchre. The following message has been received from the secretary of state —"On the joyful occasion of the twenty•fifth anniversary of your Lordship's episcopal, last night, the holy father imparts to'you most cordially a special' apostolic blessing. As a pledge' of the great abundance of your favors His Holi-, ness also sends a special blessing to you . for. the clergy .and the faithful of Jr&ttr j diocese.—(Signed) Cardinal Merry del
