Vyt' --*' ' AND FORECAST. By Telegraph—Presß Association. &** Wellington, Last Night. The Meteorological Department pub- ' fished the following summary and forecast at 5 p.m.:—Summarj'.—The barometer has risen high everywhere except at East Cape, where a cyclonic disturbance has apparently passed to seaward. Southerly winds, strong to gale, have been experienced, with cold and stormy weather generally. Forecast:—Present indications are for cold, and changeable weather, strong south-easterly winds, veering to easterly in and northward of Cook Strait, and westerlies backing to increasing northerlies elsewhere. The barometer will probably continue to rise for a few hours in the north, and especially about the East Cape, but a decreasing pressure is to be expected everywhere soon, with brief improvement only in the weather conditions.
