LONDON TO NEW YORK DIRECT. Direct wireless messages between London and New York, with special facilities for press and commercial messages, will probably be inaugurated by January 1, 1913. "With this object in view," says Mr. Godfrey Isaacs, managing director of the Marconi Company, of London, interviewed in New York, "we have convened a special meeting of the shareholds for April 18, and will ask permission to increase the capital from £332,500 to £2,000,000. "When that matter has been definitely settled we shall erect a high-powered station in the outskirts of New York, and one in the suburbs of London, for direct transmission. In addition to the stations, we shall have central offices in London arid New York, where messages will be received and forwarded to the stations." Mr. Isaacs expressed confidence that with direct wireless between London and New York, Marconigrams will compete on even terms with the present cablegram service.
