Twenty-five thousand pounds' worth of diamonds and jewellery was stolen from Bheimold, a French diamond merchant, who was staying at Richelieu Palace Hotel, during his temporary absence from the room. A reward of £2OOO is offered for the discovery of the thief. A JEWELLERY THFET. Melbourne, June 22. Jewellery valued at £350 was stolen from a house on St. Kilda road. A MURDER CASE. Perth, June 22 Thomas Ililch and Candiom Coldstrom, two Manila men, for the murder of Constable Fletcher in a scuffle at a hotel at Broome, were sentenced itq deatli. Two Malays were acquitted. A HORRIBLE OUTRAGE. Rome, June 21. A man, bound alive to a wheelbarrow, was hurled into the sea at Savona, and drowned. A dynamite cartridge was exploded but did not injure him, though the surface was littered with fish. The cause is attributed to revenge, but there is no clue to the perpetrator.
THE PARISIAN ANARCHISTS. Received 23, 5.5 p.m. Paris, June 23. The arrest of four youthful anarchists in a livery stable led to the capture of Jean Poyea, a member of the Bonnot gang. Poyea tried to shoot the detectives, hut was disarmed. Materials for manufacturing bombs were found in his room. A GANG OF DESPERADOES. HOLD UP A CITY. Received 23, 5.5 p.m. New York, June 23. A gang of desperadoes fought and drove off a band of citizens at Durant, Oklahoma, fatally wounding one. They robbed the State Bank of £OOO sterling. A posse of citizens is pursuing them.
