(Conducted by "Eileen.") SOCIETY NEWS. NEW PLYMOUTH. Dance.—ln the Brougham street hall last Thursday evening a very enjoyable dance was held by the Whakatika Hockey Club. The' hall was prettily decorated with ferns and hockey sticks, while the supper table was deftly arranged with autumn flowers. The music was supplied by Mrs. Woods' orchestra. The chaperones were Mesdames Glasgow, Bewley, and. Penn. Amongst those present were: Mrs. G. Kebbell, pretty pale blue voile, relieved with cream lace and trimmed with pale blue glace silk; Miss Glasgow, cream chiffon taffeta, trimmed with silk lace; Mrs. P. Lawson, pale blue silk; Miss Bewley, cream chiffon taffeta, with scarlet poppies at waist and in coiffure; Miss Kirkby, cream lace robe; Miss Snowball, pale blue silk, finished with silk ball trimming; Miss M. Snowball (debutante), pretty cream taffeta, corsage trimmed with silk embroideries; Miss Hanna, shell pink satin striped voile, finished with cream lace insertion; Miss J. Hempton, pretty pale blue silk; Miss Laing, very pretty sage green ninon over satin, trimmed with oriental embroideries; Mrs. Glasgow, black silk, relieved with white lace; Mrs. Penn, emerald green satin, with tunic of black sequinned net; Mrs. Bewley, black silk, maltese lace berthe; Miss B. Clarke, pretty sea green ninon, over a silk foundation; Miss A. Roberts, pretty pale blue satin, with ninon tunic finished with silver trimming; Miss W. Roberts, dainty French grey ninon, over a satin foundation; Miss W. Bennett, white ninon over satin; Miss K. Bennett, pale pink satin, with tunic of ninon; Miss K. McAllum. pale blue silk; Miss Brewster, shell pink satin, veiled in embroidered chiffon; Miss B. Oliver, pretty dove grey ninon, with tunic of ninon; Miss Arthur, cream silk; Miss K. Watson, cream silk, veiled in net bound with swansdown and caught up with large cream rose; Miss Wilson (Te Kuiti), white silk, trimmed with deep fringe; Miss Ashdown, white satin, with tunic of emerald green net; Miss K. Mills, pale pink silk; Miss Sturtevant, white silk; Miss Whitton. rose pink satin; Miss McEwen, cream silk; Misses Corkill (2), cream silk; Miss Kyngdon, rose pink silk; Miss E. Johnston, white silk; Miss Penn, ciel blue silk; Miss K. Penn, white embroidered net over a satin foundation; Miss Monteath, cream silk; Miss Morrison (Hawera), white satin. trimmed with silver passementerie. PERSONAL ITEMS. Mr. Pat Hanna. of the Northern S.S. Co.'s office, Auckland, is spending his holidays with his parents in New Plymouth. Miss G. Douglas (Auckland) is the guest-of Mrs. M. Praser, New .Plymouth. The Misses Devore (Auckland) have returned after spending a very pleasant holiday with their sisters, Mesdames Collins and R. George, New Plymouth. Mr .and Mrs. R. Cruickshank have returned to New Plymouth, the former having just arrived .back from the Old Country, while Mrs. Cruickshank has been for some months with her relatives in Auckland. Mr. T. Penton, who has been the guest of Mrs. Fitzherbert, New Plymouth, has returned to Masterton. Miss Alice Cutfield, of the nursing staff, Hamilton, is paying her parents at Fitzroy a visit. Mr. W.' D. Robertson, who has been on a visit to the Old Country, returned to New Plymouth on Thursday evening.
