FIRES.
OUTBREAKS IN WELLINGTON. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Thursday. Shortly before 5 o'clock this morning a fire broke out in an unoccupied house of twelve rooms at Kelburne, owned by Mrs. Jane Shute. The flames had a good hold before the brigade arrived, and the house was practically destroyed. It was insured in the London and Lancashire Office for £IOOO. The cause of the fire is unknown. Two hours later Norman Gibbs' seven-roomed residence on Waipapa road, Haitaitai, was partly destroyed by There was no one in the place at the time, Gibbs and his family being at Plimmerton. The house was insured in the British and Dominion Office for £I2OO, and the contents for £550 in the same office, and £SO in the Koyal Company. The origin of the outbreak is unknown.
