CANADIAN TRADE
RECIPROCITY WITH THE COMMONWEALTH. By Cable —Press Association—Copyright. Sydney, June 20. The Chamber of Commerce, in response to representations of agriculturists, decided to endeavor to induce the Commonwealth Government to establish reciprocity with Canada, and to renew subsequently the subsidy to shipping companies. It is contended that much trade which might have been built up by Australia had been transferred to New Zealand, as the latter country has first call on cargo space on the steamers and an advantage of a halfpenny per pound on butter. There would be similar advantages in other lines under reciprocity.
