Received 19, 12.20 a.m. Ottawa, June 18. _ The Supreme Court of Canadla has decided that the Canadian Parliament has no power to enact legislation of the character of the Lancaster Marriage Bill, arising put of the Ne Tenure decree. The decision means that the authority to enact marriage laws rests entirely with the provincial legislatures. The Court decided that the law of Quebec does not render mixed marriages null and void, whether performed by a Catholic priest or a Protestant clergyman. Investigation is proceeding into the Mormon colonies in Western Canada and the methods of mormon missionaries, with a to making an appeal to the Government for action.
