The following is the High Commissioner's cablegram under date London, June 15 (quotations, unless otherwise specified are average market prices on spot) General.—The strike is subsiding and many men are returning to work. Business is apparently improving. Mutton.—The market is steady. Canterbury, 4y 2 d; North Island, 4d. Lamb.—The market is firm, but expect prices will decline when larger supplies become available. Canterbury, 6%d; other than Canterbury, Gi/ t d. Beef.—The market is quiet and the supply exceeds the demand. New Zealand hindquarters, 4 1 /, d; forequarters, 3%d.

Batter.—The market is quiet but 6teady. New Zealand iholders are firm. Choicest New Zealand 115s, Australian 108s, Danish 121s, Siberian 108s. Cheese.—The market is firm, but the demand is only moderate. New Zealand, colored 745, white 72s 6d. Hemp.—The market is quiet but steady and dependent on Manila reports. Spot New Zealand good fair £22, fair £2O 10s; fair current Manila £22, forward shipment about the same price. The output from Manila for the week was 31,000 bales. Wool.—The market prospects are favorable. _ There is general confidence in the maintenance of the present prices. Current quotations for Bradford tops:— 36's (low crossbreds) Is ly 4 d, 40's (low crossbreds) Is l%d, 44's (medium crossbreds) Is 2%d, 50's (half-breds) Is 5 1 / 2 d. Wheat.—The market is rather more active. Oats.—The market is very quiet. Peas.—There is less demand. Beans.—Market very dull. Messrs. Wcddell and Co., Ltd., report under date June 14:— Gheese.— New Zealand first grade, white cheese, 735; colored, 745. The market is quiet. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile. Agency Company, Ltd., Wellington, have received the following cablegram from their London house under date June 14: ■ —Frozen Meat. —The strike continues. Quotations are nominal. Messrs. Dalgety and Co., Ltd., have been advised by their London office under date June 13, as follows: skins.—At the sales held on the 13th inst., Merino combings were three-eighths of a penny per lb. higher, merino clothing y 4 d per lb. 'higher, and crossbred %d per lb .higher. Some shipments were not available owing to the strike. Frozen Meat.—Prices are irregular, and about per lb. lower. Holders are anxious to realise forthwith. Tallow.—Business is practically suspended owing to the strike. There will be no further public sales until further notice.
