LONDON MARKETS. ,By Cable—Press Association—Copyright > London, June 15. I Wheat.—The markets are firm, tending upwards on unfavorable reports of the winter crop in America. There is a strong demand for cargoes for the United Kingdom and the Continent. Six sold at 40s 3d to 425. Six thousand tons of South Australian sold at 40s iy 2 d per quarter. For parcels of South Australian and Victorian May-June shipments 38s 8d is being paid. Trade ia. spot is Hat; Australian 41s. Flour.—Firm. Australian patents 28s 3d. Oats.—Steady. La Plata May-June 17s 6d. Butter.—Oolonial dull. There is a fair fttaatity discharging, but buyers are taking Irish and Siberian, which are plentiful. Prices are unchanged. Danish is easier, 120s to 1225. Cheese—Quiet. New Zealand, 73s to lan. Sheepskin Sales.—Three thousand four hundred and fifty bundles of Australasian were offered. There was a large attendance and bidding was animated. Merino combings and clothings were one farthing dearer; crossbreds were one half-penny dearer all round. Copper, £7B 2s fid to £7B 15s. Tin, £197 to £207. Lead, £l7 15s. Spelter, £25 17s (id. Pig iron, 53s lOd. Wolfram, £29. Sugar. —German, lis lOd; first marks, 15s id. Bradford Wool. —Steady and unchanged.
XJWTON KING'S WEEKLY REPORT. On Friday, June 7 I had a good entry of cattle in my Waiwakniho yards. a big proportion being Jersey yearling and 2-year heifers. The demand for these was very good, prices obtained being:— Jersey yearling heifers, up to £3 !Ss fov best, others £2 Is to £2 Bs, grades £1 4s (id to £1 10s; yearling steers, good, £1 to £1 12s; yearling mixed and poor , quality,■ 13s Gd to £1 8s 6d; 20 month empty heifers Jerseys, £4 ss, grades £3 ' to £3 10s, 20 months' steers, good, £3 ()s fid, poor £2 Is to £2 10s, 2 1 / 2 -year incalf heifers small, £4 19s, 2-year in calf Jerseys, nice line but backward, £5-13s (id; spring cows £7 to £7 15s, cows, j spring calvers. aged £3 9s Gd to £4 10s, spring 3-year Jersey heifers £10; store cows £2 to £3 ss, forward cows £3 15s to £4 17s. At Urenui on Monday 10th, there was only a small yarding with a slack enquiry for everything, except yearlings. Well grown yearling heifers realised £3 ss. good steers, £1 15s to £2 Is, poor and bad colored £l, mixed £1 5s 6d, empty 18-months heifers £3 3s fid to £3 14s; 3-year bullocks £5; store cows £2 (is to £3 7s, forward cows £4 to £4 os, dairy cows £4 10s to £7, in calf 3 ' year heifers £7; bulls £3 Is; hoggets, good line 10s fid. On the same day at Toko I had only a fair yarding realising: Yearling heifers, .•CI. 6s to' £2 6s Gd; steers 17s to £2, mixed, £1 Is Gd; empty heifers, £3 3s; store cows, £2 14s to £3 13s, fat cows £5 4s, dairy cows £lO 7s 6d; 2-year steers £3 Ill's Gd; hoggets lOsjfull-mouth ewes, in lamb. £9 lis, empty ewes 3s 7d to 4s lid. For my fortnightly sale in any Stratford yards on Tuesday 11th I had a failentry and a good attendance of buyers. The demand throughout was very even for all lines, an absolute clearance being made during the day: Good store cows and yearlings met with keen competition: Best yearling steers from £1 13s 6d to £1 17s Gd, small £1 Is, bad colored lis, good mixed, £2 4s; best yearling heifers £2 2s fid to £3 3s, good, £1 lis to £1 19s, small, £1 6s Gd, empty 20 months' heifers, £3 to £3 9s fid: bulls, £2 5s to £3 10s; in calf heifers, £4 16s; cows in calf £3 17s (id, aged cows in calf, guaranteed, £3 2s fid to £3 12s 0(1. empty cows, stores £2 9s to £3 ss, fresh conditioned, £3 lis to £3 19s, boners, £1 to £1 15s, fat cows, £5 17s od; hoggets, 8s 4d; fat bullocks £7 13s. In my Stratford Dairy yards on the same day I had a clearing sale on account of Mr John Fabish, Ratapiko. Bidding was very good. Best quality eows realised from £8 to £ll 15s, second grade £5 10s to £7, others poor or aged £3 2s Gd to £4 10s. On account of other vendors £5 to £7 10s, in calf, heifers, £G 2s Gd. On Wednesday 12th, I had a good attendance at Mr V. Miller's clearing sale on the York road. Prices realised throughout were very satisfactory, averaging £9. Good dairy cows realised from £8 10s to £l2 10s, second grade, £5 to £7 10s, empty cows £3 15s to £4 17s fid, in calf heifers £G 17s Gd to £9, mare £l6 15s. My Stony River sale on Wednesday was very well attended but only a fair yarding of stock which met with good competition, realising as follows: Yearling heifers £1 4s Gd to £1 18s 6d; steers. £1 8s to £1 17s 6d; empty 20 months' heifers £3 5s to' £3 15s Gd, 20 months' in calf heifers, £3 15s to £4 7s; store cows £2 10s to £3 2s Gd, forward cows, £4 2s fid to £4 4s, fat cows £5 7s Gd. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd., Wellington, has received the following cablegram from London under date June 13:— Sheepskins.—The market for sheepskins is dearer for merino combing by %<l, merino clothing by y,d, crossbred mostly y.A. For crossbred lamb-skins it is unchiuiged.
