THE AMERICAN AMBASSADOR
CHARMED WITH NEW ZEALAND. By Telegraph—Press Association. Dunedin, Last Night. The Hon. James Bryce and Mrs Bryce arrived in Dunedin by the first express from the north on Saturday afternoon, and on arrival were met at the station by Mr. W. Burnett, Acting-Mayor, and the city councillors. They were driven to the Town Hall, where a civic welcome was accorded them in the presence of a large and representative gathering. In reply to a speech of welcome by the Acting-Mayor, Mr. Bryce spoke at considerable length on the very pleasant impressions which were being made on his mind by his visit to the country. The scenery, especially during the latter stage of the railway journey to Dunedin, had been magnificent, and, in addition, he haa been impressed with the fact that, on account of its great natural resource, and the energy of its inhabitants. New Zealand must one day carry a big population. Mr. and Mrs. Bryce will leave for the cold lakes district on Monday morning, and after a few days will return to the North Island before leaving New Zealand.
