ENTERTAINMENTS
BACKBLOCKS MISSION CONCERT. St. Mary's Hall was packed to the doors last evening on the occasion of a concert organised by the Backblocks Mission- League. The proceeds were in aid of the mission, and the entertainment was a complete success. The following programme was rendered:—Miss Warren, pianoforte solo, "Sbaccatoicaprice" (encored); song, "A Sergeant of the Line" (encored), Rev. G. F. Robson; song, "Song of Thanksgiving" (encored), Miss O'Callaghan; recitation, "The Raven"—Poe (encored), Rev. A. H. Colvile; song, "Irish Lullaby" (encored), Miss White; pianoforte solo, •Polanaise"—Chopin (encored), Miss B. Hirst;..i«song, Still as the Night" (encored), Mr Haslam; song, "The Message" (encored), Miss I. Taylor; song, "Son of Mine" (encored), Mr. Johnston. The entertainment was rounded off with a diverting sketch, "The Confidential ' Clerk," by the Boy Scouts. During the evening, opportunity was taken by the Rev. Archdeacon Evans to thank all those who had kindly assisted with the programme, and Miss Godfrey for organising the concert.
BLASCHECK.
Joseph Blascheck, the clever entertainer, who appears at the Theatre Royal on Thursday next, June 20, in addition to his character impersonations and humorous songs, makes a feature of musical monologue. There are many ;recitations which distinctly lend themselves to a musical getting, and Miss Wrighton not only excels' here as a pianist, hut shows considerable merit as a soloist and impersonator. The box plan opens on Monday morning at Collier's.
