South Africa mutch was resumed. The attendance was small. Hobbs, opening for an over, enabled Barnes and Foster to resume their original ends. The remaining six wickets added 103. Snooke, playing back to a half volley of Foster's second over, was bowled. Five for 132. Mitchell came in next, and three runs later was bowled off his pad by Barnes. Llewellyn had made '65. Six for 135. 'Schwarz partnered Llewellyn, who added eight and was caught at the wickets on the leg side. He had batted for 150 minutes', a chanceless innings, which included eight fours. Schwarz had then made four. Seven for 147. Pegler joined Schwarz, who, after being nearly bowled, made a late cut for four in a dangerous position in the slips, and another for four in the same over off Barnes. Pegler, playing forward to Barnes, wa3 bowled. ille gave a hard chance before be had scored at short leg to Spooner, and when he had made two was badly missed at mid-on by Fry off Foster in the same over. Schwarz had then made 19. Eight for 176. Carter filled the vacancy, and Foster, who had damaged his hand, retired, Humphreys fielding as substitute, and Hobbs bowling. Nine runs came off his first over, and in the next Schwarz was bowled off his body by Barnes. He batted fifty minutes, and his score included five fours. Carter had made 10. Nine for 197. Campbell was the last man. Carter made a four in the slips off Barnes and brought up 200 in 230 minutes. Carter had added 13 when Campbell was caught at long-on by Jessop off. Barnes. Carter gave a capital display. The innings lasted 240 minutes. Llewellyn's defence was strong. He scored mostly by fine drives, and was the only batsman able to cope with Barnes and Foster, with the exception of Carter, who played Barnes excellently. England won by an innings and 02 runs.
