DOMINION DAIRY SHOW
TO BE OPENED TO-DAY. i Preparations are well forward for the opening of the third Dominion Dairy Show to-day. All the dairy produce has been placed in the new hall, and the exhibition makes a striking display. It is probably the best exhibition of its kind seen in the Dominion. Judging was commenced yesterday by the Government grading staff, and owing to the large number of entries, it will not be completed until this morning. The court containing the Agricultural Department's exhibit at the show occupies a considerable portion of the main hall (skating rink) at the further end from the Princess street entrance. The various secI tions of this exhibit will be under the charge of the following- officers of the Agricultural Department: Fruit, Messrs. Hyde and Stratford; honey, Messrs. Jacobsen and Bowman; Co-operative Exhibits (vegetables and other produce grown by private individuals under the supervision of the Departmental Fields Instructor), Mr. Baylis; Moumahaki section (roots and fodder plants, such as silver beet, etc.), Messrs. Lonsdale and Hills; stand of grasses and weeds, Messrs. Glass on and Chomley; Hemp, Mr. Rutherford; Departmental publications, Mr. Parry. Mr. Parry also has charge of packets of seeds of weeds and other impurities commonly found in grass seed, which may be purchased for purposes of comparison by those who wish to do so. The officers in charge of the various sections will welcome enquiries from all interested, and will be happy to furnish enquirers with, all available information. In addition to sections already mentioned, the Departmental exhibit will include Ruakura and Wairanga wines, honey vinegar, mead, bottled fruits, etc. The staking for the whole exhibit was arranged by Mr. Fitzgibbon, of the Departmental staff. The side-show attractions will form a special feature, and special engagements have been made of the Karles family of acrobats, for the Bijou Theatre, also of Professor Schultz, in sensational novelty turns, and of the well-known vaudeville entertainers, Gardiner and Le Mar, from John Fuller and Sons', Wellington. The Prime Minister (Mr. T. Mackenzie) will officially open the show at noon to-day. Should the weather remain fine there should be record attendances, and the show should easily eclipse its predecessors.
