The local horse Golden Loop was sold during the progress of the Auckland Great Northern meeting to. Mr. F. Douglas, of Napier, for 250 guineas. The New Plymouth racehorse Draft broke down so badly during the progress of the Auckland meeting that his owner disposed of him by the simple process of giving him away. It is doubtful if Draft will ever race again. While in Wellington last week Mr. G. V. Pearce, M.P., interviewed the Minister for Internal Affairs (Mr. G. W. Russell) with reference to giving totalisator permits to the Hawera Trotting Club and the Patea Racing Club. The Minister was sympathetic in his reply, saying that he would be agreeable to increase the days for country clubs by twenty, but the posiiton would have to be considered by the Cabinet, and, later on, referred to the House.
