THE NEW LOAN
ITS OBJECTS. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Tuesday. Reference to the loan of £4,500,000, which the New Zealand Government is raising, was made by the Prime Minister in an interview with a Post representative to-day. The loan, he said, was principally for repaying old loans maturing, advances already received in anticipation of receiving the authorised loans, and for the payment for the Dreadnought. Full details would be given to Parliament at the earliest opportunity. "I have no observation to make in regard to the loan," added Mr. Mackenzie, "beyond this, that the money is reouired, and it is being raised on the best terms that we can raise it on. Of course, no matter what is done, faults will be found; indeed, fault-finding has been raised to such a state in this country that it may at times interfere with the best being done."
