A SHIPPING DISASTER
TWO MEN DROWNED. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Received 11, 9.20 p.m. Sydney, June 11. The coasting steamer Timaru, from Clarence River to Brisbane, sprang a leak and anchored off shore at Southport, near the Tweed River. A boat with eight of the crew aboard capsized while attempting to land, and two seamen, named Murray and Lilliedale, were drowned. The captain and the balance of the crew are on board the steamer, and assistance is being sent. The sea is rough. Received 11, 11.35 p.m. Sydney, June 11. Murray, who was drowned from the Timaru, ttm * well-known sawmiller and the pioneer of the timber trade with New Zealand. The latest news of the Timaru is that she has grounded. The balance of the crew on board are safe.
