The Meteorological Department published the following summary and forecast at 5 p.m.:—Summary.—The barometer has commenced to fall everywhere. Wait weather has prevailed, with cold and changeable conditions, southerly winds Teering to easterly in the north and backing to westerly in the south. Forecast.—Present indications are for a decided fall in the barometer, and a change in the weather; expect misty and cloudy weather and somewhat milder conditions preceding general rain; winds changing to northerly and increasing from strong to gale.
