HIGH COMMISSIONER'S REPORT. . By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Monday. The following is the High Commissioner's cablegram under date London, June 8 (quotations, unless otherwise specified, are average market prices on spot) General.—The strike continues, but cargoes are discharging slowly. The supply of meat meets the demand. The Turakina's shipment of butter and cheese has been landed. Mutton.—Canterbury. 4y>d (nominal); North Island, 4d. Lamb—Canterbury, 7d; other than Canterbury, 6y 2 d. Beef.—New Zealand hindquarters, 4%4; forequarters, 3%d.' Butter. Tile market is steady. Choicest New Zealand butter to-day is 115s, Australian 108s, Argentine 108s. Cheese.—The market is quiet . but firm. New Zealand white 735, colored 745; Canadian 695, English Cheddar 90s. Hemp.—'The market is quiet but steady. Spot New Zealand, good fair £22, fair £2O 15s; fair current Manila £22 10s, forward shipment about the same. The output from Manila for the week was 7000 bales. The stock of hemp is 233 tons. Hops.—The market is strong.
