WINTER SHOW.

To the Editor. Sir, —The method of judging the farm district exhibits at the show needs revising. The interest taken in these exhibits by the public and the exhibitors has in no small degree helped to make the show a success, and if four or five districts were to exhibit next year they would make a show of their own. But exhibitors should know on what points they are going to be judged. Last year they were judged under about four headings;, this year it was fourteen. The method adopted of making the maximum points 10 for each does not take into account the importance of some compared with others of very small value as a product of the district. To give 10 points each for sauce, pickles, jams, and jellies, wood and timbers, bread and cake, ,and only give the same for roots and fruit, butter and cheese, grain and hay, does not take into account the importance of the different products produced in a distrjet. Then, again, to allow only Ift points for general arrangement does not encourage exhibitors to go to the trouble and expense of setting up their exhibit to the best advantage. Under the present method of judging the district showing the best farm proce may easily be beaten by an exhibit ciiat does not show either roots, butter, grain, or hay.—l am, .etc., W. HEALY.
