A SUBMARINE OUT DOWN. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Received 9, 6.5 p.m. Paris, June 9. The battleship St. Louis collied with and cut in two the submarine Vendemaire at Cherboury. Twenty-six of the crew were drowned.
A FATAL DISASTER. Received 10, 12.20 a.m. Paris, June 9. A submarine practising an attack rose under the Saint Louis's bow and sank in 170 feet of water. A great bubbling on the surface ensued and the sea was covered with oil. Portions of the submarine's deck rose within twelve minutes. The warships immediately anchored on the spot, but nothing further was seen. A strong sea and currents impede salvage.
