An air race for the Daily Mail's trophy, making a circuit of London of eighty-one miles was started and finished at Hendon. Seven airships competed. Sopwith ■was first in 84 minutes, but was disqualified for passing a mile within the mark.' Purley, therefore, won the gold cup and the £250 award.. His time was 88% minutes.
