Hall-Jones, interviewed, said that he had been reappointed five times in three and a quarter years. He had offered to continue in office for a year, or would have been willing to wait until his successor was appointed, but in view of important transactions pending it was unreasonable and undesirable to continue a system of reappointing from month to month.
