INSURANCE CONGRESS
A MONOPOLY WANTED. By Cable—Press Association —Copyright. London, June 6. The International Congress of insurance brokers to discuss the improvement of insurance practices received a cablegram conveying the good wishes of the New South Wales Association. The discussion on insurance tinder the Workmen's Compensation Act revealed the growth of exaggerated claims. The companies found it difficult to make a profit or adjust rates to cover the risk. Resolutions were passed against State competition in insurance as directly opposed to the interests of the people, also against municipal insurance as inefficient, costly, and detrimental to the ratepayers.
