There were great crowds present at Epsom to witness this race, including the King and Queen, who attended to witness the Tunning of the King's colt, Pintadean. The King's horse, Pintadean, finished fourth.

Tragalie, the winner, ran successfully as a two-year-old, and opened up the three-year-old season by appropriating the One Thousand Guineas, the early spring classic race for three-year-old fillies. Jaeger, who was second, occupied the same position last month in the Two Thousand. Guinea Stakes. The One Thousand and Two Thousand Stakes are generally regarded as the key to the Derby, and this has been emphasised this year by the positions occupied by the placed horses.

At a sale of trotting stock in Christchurch on Tuesday the trotting stal'ion Dillon Belle, by Harold Dillon—Wild Belle, was sold to Mr. Newman for )50 guineas. The three-year-old colt, Wallace Wood, by Wallace L,—Cissie Wood, went to Mr. J. Cass at 250 guineas.
