DISTRICT NEWS.

WAIONGONA. (From Our Own Correspondent.) On account of other fixtures during the week, the second of the series of euchre parties was held in the schoolroom on Tuesday evening, the attendance being scarcely satisfactory. Twelve games were played, the winners being Miss Puklowski, ladies' prize (glove and handkerchief boxes), and Mr. H. Clough, gentlemen's prize (hat and clothes brush). On Wednesday evening Mr. J. Simpson addressed a small gathering of farmers on the subject of co-operation among farmers. Many instances of successful co-operation were cited, and those present were urged to agitate for a progressive movement on similar lines among- 'the farmers of Taranaki. Owing to the poor attendance it was decided to hold another meeting at a later date, and to advertise the meeting more fully with the object of securing a larger and more representative gathering. At the conclusion of the meeting Mr. Simpson was accorded a very hearty vote of thanks for his address.
