THE WINTER SHOW

PREPARATIONS WELL IN HAND. Wednesday morning will see all arrangements for the Winter Show completed, but an enormous amount of work has still to be done to-day and to-mor-row. The big working bee of over 50 stewards and willing helpers to-day, besides all the stall holders and tradesmen preparing their exhibits, will entirely change the appearance of the huge buildings, while quite a number of officials, under the management of Mr. Fitzgibbon, will have completed a magnificent display from the State farms, covering over 3000 ft., and worth going hundreds of miles to see. This, with upwards of 2300 other entries, will constitute one of the biggest produce shows ever seen in New' Zealand.

Everything except cookery , poultry, and pets must be delivered at the show during Tuesday (or Monday). All cookery must be in by 9 a.m. on Wednesday, and all poultry and pets by 7 p.m. on Wednesday. The opening ceremony will take place at noon on Wednesday. Excursion fares from Wanganui, Te Wera, and intermediate stations will be issued on June 5, 6, 7, and 8, available for return until June 11, on all trains except the mail- trains. A special train will run each day from Hawera. starting at 11.10 a.m. and arriving at New Plymouth at 2.30 p.m. On Thursday and Saturday, June 6 and 8, the usual 4.20 p.m .train will be delayed until 6 p.m. for Waitara, Te Wera, and Hawera. Thursday's football match will be the best of the season, Waimate v. North Taranaki, and will be played on the Recreation Sporta Ground at 3 p.m. Visitors arriving by the early train will be able to visit the show, attend the match, and return by the 6 p.m. train.
