THE OPUNAKE RAILWAY
STATEMENT BY JCEIE PRIME MINISTER. By Telegraph—Own Reporter. Opunake, Last Wight. When the Prime Minister was referring last night to the need for making the country more attractive, in order to prevent the tendency of population to drift to the cities, a voice interjected: What about the railway to Opunake? This drew from the Prime Minister the remark: "Well, I think you are on a fair track now. A report is now being prepared by the Commission." His policy, ho said, was not for delay. Life was too short to shunt matters. When the report came in if he was in power it would he accepted if reasonable, and he hoped that afterwards there would he no demur as to where the line should go, but let them go straight on with the railway.
