I AUSTRALASIA IN AMERICA. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Sydney, May 29. The New South Wales Rugby Union :has accepted the invitation of the Californian Union to send a team, at the jend of the present season, to tour [America and British Columbia. The union proposes that the team shall have ,an Australasian character, and that New [Zealand and Queensland shall be represented. It has been decided to invite |New Zealand to send a representative .team to play three matches in Sydney i for selection purposes. At the close of I these matches a combined team will be I picked by two selectors, one of whom i will be a New Zealander.
There will be no senior match at New Plymouth to-day. The only game set down for decision locally is a junior fixture, Star v. Stratford. Star will be represented by the following:—Gleeson, Lowe, Preece, Harvey, James (2), Haldane, Walsh, Bullot, Crockett, Clark, Mason, Page, Howson, Main (2). The game will be played on the Racecourse. It is probable that the fixtures set jdown for next Thursday in the Northern |Division will be postponed for a week, j owing to the fact that the North Taranaki representatives will be engaged in a match against' the Southern Division premiers, Waimate. on the Recreation , Grounds on Show Thursday. If so, the junior and second junior fixtures set | down for that day will be played on the I following Thursday. It is probable, howlever, that advantage will be taken of • the break to play the matches between |Clifton and Eltham juniors, and High (School and Clifton seeond juniors, which .for various reasons were not played on the appointed date. The senior matches may also be postponed for a further [week owing to the two representative matches to be played at Hawera in the .following week. In the Saturday competition matches I will be played as usual on Saturday, June 8, the'date of the New Plymouth jShow, but the third round will probablv jnot start until June 22, owing to the .representative match against Wanganui talcing place at Hawera on June 15. Clifton, at |Waitera, 2 p.m., Mr. W. Elliott; Star v. Stratford, at New Plymouth, 1.30 p.m., iMr. W. Roch; Inglewood v. Eltham, at Eltham, 3.30 p.m., Mr. H. Petty. Second !Juniors: High School v. Stratford, at Stratford, Mr. J. H. Thompson. I Saturday—Fitzroy v. Okato, at Okato, Mr. J. Johnson; Rovers v. Star, at Sports Ground, Mr. O. West. ASSOCIATION. NORTH TARANAKT v. SOUTH TARANAKI. An Association football match will be played on the Recreation Ground this afternoon between teams representing the North and South Taranaki divisions. South Taranaki will be represented bv the following:— Coal, A. Onalie; backs. Bullock (Manaia), Stapleton (Manaia): halves, O. James (Manaia), Mitchell (Hawera), F. Nicholl (Knnonga); right wing, Law (Kaponga). Bowen (Kaponga), centre forward, Spice (Hawera); left wing, TJre (Hawera), Hazeltine (Hawera); emergencies. Young (Manaia) Beeby (Auroa), Ryan (Hawera).
