STRIKE AT WHANGAREI. By Telegraph—Press Association. Whangarei, Yesterday. The employees of the Northern Coal Company's niine at Hikurangi struck to-day, as the outcome <oi a difference with the management respecting weighing. Then.- are indications that the difficulty is adjustable.
THE REEETON STRIKE. Reefton, Last Night. The chairman of the County Council to-day wired to the Minister for Labor to allow Mr. Hally, Conciliation Commis.sioner, to intervene in the dispute, but a reply states that the Government could not intervene, as no application had been made. Mr. Fagan returned this morning. The spurts to-day were fairly well attended. A number of hands were discharged from the Globe and Wealth of Nations' batteries. The town is very dull. There are no further developments. A DEADLOCK. Wellington, Last Night. It is stated that the conference between the New Zealand Federated Clothing Manufacturers find representatives of the employers, which sat all dav considering the question' of wages and labor conditions, came to a deadlock. The workers' representatives will meet to-morrow to consider the situation.
