PERSONAL.
Mr. R. Langman, of Westown, who has been on a visit to Sydney during the past six weeks, has returned to New Plymouth. A Sydney cablegram states that Sir Joseph and Lady WaTd left for New Zealand by the Maunganui, on Saturday.
Mr. G. H. Lawn, who is shortly leaving for Gonville, Wanganui, was on Friday night made the recipient of a presentation from members of the choir and congregation of Whiteley Church. Mr. Lawn has been conductor of the choir.
Sir Joseph Ward has been feted and banqueted to such an extent an Sydney that he has scarcely had any time to devote to golf, the pastime which he has taken up with such enthusiasm. His callers have been so numerous and his correspondence so large as to make it necessary for him to temporarily engage the services of a private secretary. Ht has been the guest of the GovernorGeneral and the State Governor, has been entertained by the Lord Mayor, has been the 'lion" of numerous private functions, and has attended public receptions.
