The wicket was slow, and ft late start was made. Gregory won the t< -s. Vidler and Kaye were the, bowlei -. A poor opening was made, Jennings being leg-before to Kaye in the second over, and Smith giving an easy catch to cover point. Macartney did some good oil-driving, and lost his wicket playing forward to Vidler. Minnett was run out next over owing to Bardsley making a foolish call. Crutchley accounted for Kelleway with a high single-handed catch. Five for 51, for 55 minutes' play. The bowling was steady, and the fielding smart. Bardsley and Gregory stopped the rot, and ran the total to 101 hefore Gregory succumbed. He was 75 minutes at the wickets, and his play was uneven. Emery did some good on-driving, scoring 17 in one of Lord's overs, hefore being taken at third man. Hazlitt was caught in the slips. Bardsley was given out leg-before to Crutehley. He had played an admirable all-round innings, being at the wickets i for 160 minutes, during which time (lie hit ten fours. He gave a chance to Kallmann off Kaye at 01.
