L. A. NOLAN & CO.'S REPORT. L. A. Nolan and Co. report for the week ending May 22, 1912: Poultry.—On Saturday we had a large entry, all classes of birds being well represented. Prices show au improvement on previous .week's quotations consequent on a better demand. Prices were as follows:—Hens Is 4d to Is Bd, fat <lo. to 2s 2<l, cockerels Is Id to 2s 2d, roosters Is Id to Is 7d, ducks 2s to 2s 3d, turkey hens 3s 9d. In the mart a .large assortment of household furniture was disposed of at fair prices. ■ Fruit.—The market has been keeping firm, apples maintaining late rates. Oranges are in poor demand, prices being low. We quote:—Apples, Jonathans (is to Gs 6d, Spitzbergens os to 5s Od, Munro's Favorite 6s to 0s 6d, oranges 7s to 7s Od, grapes (local) Is per lb, pears (dessert) half-cases ss, cookers 3s to 4s. WEBSTER BROS.* REPORT. At the mart on Saturday our pens were taxed to their utmost with birds of all classes. Prices still showed an advance on the previous week's list. For-' ward pullets and fat cockerels are still in good demand. We quote:—Hens (old) Is -Id to Is 9d, young 2s to 3s, pullets (young) 2s 3d to 2s 7d, forward 3s 9d to 4s Cd, cockerels (young) Is 5d to 2s Id, fat 2s Cd to 3s, 'ducks Is 8d to 2s 9d, drakes 2s to 2s Od, purebred brown Leghorn cockerel os Od, bantams Is Od, turkeys 4s. , The usual line of auction sundries realised satisfactory rates. Fruit.—During the week we have handled Urge quantities of fruit, mostly pears. Prices have started to harden, and from now on fruit will be dearer. Prices as under (according to quality and size of cases): —Apples, dessert, bestcolored varieties, 6s Cd to 7s 6d, cookers 5s to 5s Od; pears, dessert, 5s to 12s, others 3s Od to 4s 6d; oranges, re-packs, 9s; cape gooseberries, 4s 9d to 5s Od; quinces, 5s to as 6d; grapes, best Gross Coleman, Is 4d lb, seconds 9d to 10'/ 2 d lb; passion fruit, 2s Od to 3s Gd; peanuts, 2%d. On Wednesday, on account of Mr. H. M. Bannister, at his residence, Vogeltown, we held a clearing sale of all his household furniture and effects. There was a large attendance of the public, and each article submitted realised satisfactory priew. -IMSHMM LOCAL MARKETS. Butchers' Meat. Beef: Sirloin, 6d; prime ribs, sd; rump steak, 8d; beef, from 3d to Cd; corned beef, 4d and sd. Mutton: Legs, Cd; chops, Cd; loin, sd; shoulders, sd; necks, 3d. Veal, 3d to 5d per lb. Sausages: Beef sd, pork Bd. Lambs: Legs, 6d; forequarters, 4s 6d; hindquarters, 5s Cd. Pork: Fresh 7d and 8d per lb. Fowls, 5s to <ss per pair; ducks, Cb per pair. Dripping, 6d per lb. These prices are for cash only; Vjd per lb for booking over one week. . General Groceries: Rolled oats and oatina, lOd bag; oatmeal, 4s 3d per 251k bag; flour, roller, 1001b, lis 3d, 501b 6s, 25!bs 3s 3d.

Cereals, etc.—Oats, Gartons 3s 3d per bushel, Duns 3s 6d, crushed oats 3s 6d; barley, 3s 9d; crushed beans, 5s 6d; pollard, 7s 6d per 1001b, 15s per 2001b; bran, 6s per 1001b; fowl wheat, 4s 9d per bushel; maize, 4s fid to 5s per bushel. Dairy Produce, etc—Butter: Factory (in rolls) Is 4d, dairy lid, best separator Is 2d per lb; cheese, 8d per lb; eggs, 2s per doz.; eggs (circle), 2s %d per doz. bacon, rashers, lOd per lb; hams, 9y 2 d per lb; milk, 4d quart. Fruit.—Bananas, 4d lb; lemons, Is 6d »nd 2s per doz.; apples, 3d and 4d lb; figs, 4d box; oranges, Is and Is Cd per doz.; grapes, Is 6d and 2s per lb; peaches, Od lb; pears, 4d and 6d lb; tomatoes, 6d lb; passion fruit, Cd per doz. 3d and 4d; carrots, 2d per bunch; turnips, 2d per bunch; potatoes, 121bs for ls ; parsnips, 2d bunch; cucumbers, 3d and 4d.
