A VIOLENT EARTHQUAKE
SEISMOGRAPH RECORD. By Cable —Press Association—Copyright. Received 24, 1 a.m. Sydney, May 23. The Rivcrview seismograph recorded an exceptionally violent earthquake today. It is supposed to be 6000 miles distant, in a north-easterly direction, towards Japan. Some of the waves exceeded half an inch.
