THE REEFTON STRIKE. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night.
The Reefton miners have been advised that they have been subjected to a lock-out and proceedings will probably be taken against the mine management to test the position.
PATEA DEMAND CONCEDED.
The Patea Press reports that in consequences of a demand on the part of the employees of the Patea Farmers' Co-operative Freezing Company for improvements in their wages, hours, and working conditions, Mr. M. J. Reardon, secretary of the New Zealand Federated Slaughtermen's Union, arrived in Patea on Tuesday, and in company with representatives of the men met Mr. C. Mackay, manager of the company's works ,and representatives of the company, when the demands were discussed and an agreement arrived at, which was subsequently ratified by the men on Wednesday morning.
