A NAVAL COLLEGE

AN INDEPENDENT PORT

By Cable—Press Association—Copyright, Sydney, May 22.

The Commonwealth has asked for 200,000 acres for the site of the Naval College at Jervis Bay. Mr. McGowen has now offered 18,000 acres and about one-third of the area of water desired. The object of the State Government is to make itself independent of the Federal ports by establishing a State port. If the Commonwealth demands had been conceded it would have had a complete monopoly of the waters of the bay.
