There waa a big muster of children oa Saturday afternoon at the Good Templar Hall practising the various dances for the Fire Brigade ball, to be held on June 3 (King's Birthday). The ball promises to be as big a success as aver this year, judging by the interest taken in it, and the big demand for tickets. Something new in working shirts, appropriately called the "Artisan," is introduced and advertised by the New Zealand Clothing Factory. 'Being durable, yet soft and pliable, this garment should appeal to the men who appreciate comfort, especially considering the low price. See advertisement on page 7. "The greatest blanket bargain in years," is an apt expression applied to the sensational line of all wool colonial blankets, full double-bed size, on offer just now at the Melbourne. The price per pair is 21s, and the firm asserts that this ia the lowest price touched for similar quality during the last ten years. His Majesty the Baby is to be catered for this week at our store in King St. In walking through a well-known traveller's rooms we were struck with the appearance of a lovely lot of embroidered goods, which we discovered were christening robes for his Majesty the Baby. On inquiring the priced the traveller said that as there were very few babies in New Plymouth he did not anticipate selling them. This was our chance. We made him an offer for the sixty robes, and we, to our surprise, got them at our own price. They range in price from 10s 6d to 27s 6d. Now the mothers of this town are to be made a present of these to-day at 5s lid each at the Busy Cash Store, King St. Women's wants for winter weather at White and Sons:—Heavy natural combinations, usually 8s 6d, a big purchase selling at 5s lid. Women's nightdresses, ideal comfort, 4s Cd each; also in cream at 7s lid and 9s lid. Children's natural combinations, cosy and warm, 2s 3d to 2s lid. according to size. Special purchase ladies' winter coats, in smart tweeds, 17s 6d each.
