The following somewhat formidable list of shipping mishaps at Greymouth is supplied by the Wellington Dominion:— 1865 or 1866, the Eleanor (steamer) and Christina Thompson (schooner) and the cutter Swan were all lost. September 18, 1866, Excelsior (schooner), total loss whilst being towed out. July is, 1867, Harriet (brigantine), jfcctal loss. November 5, 1867, Charles Edward (steamer)., was got off. November 8, 1867, Flying Cloud (schooner), total loss. November 9, 1867, Cymraes (schooner), total loss. June 9, 1868, Louisa (schooner), total loss. July 15, 1868, Pat the Rover (brig), total loss. August 22, 1868, Jane Elkin (ketch), total loss. July 1, 1569, Bruce (steamer), total loss. September 8, 1869, Pearl (ketch), total loss. August 24, 1870, Constant (ketch), total loss. November 5, 1870, Wallabi (steamer). June 22, 1874, Waipara (steamer). December 14, 1874, Kennedy (steamer). September 14, 1875, Kennedy (steamer) September 24,1875, WaipaTa (steamer) February 5, 1876, Mary Bannatyne (brigantine). March 1, 187«, Lioness (steamer).
