ROUND THE MOUNTAIN ROAD RACE New ■■ Plymouth had the honor Last year of promoting and successfully conducting the largest and most valuable road race in the whole of Australasia. Despite the worst of weather conditions, the committee managed to finance the ! whole undertaking and finish with only a small deficit, thanks to the generous support of the townspeople and cycle traders. It is the ambition of the road race, committee to retain the premier position in the Australasian, world for New Plymouth, and provided the public, evince similar inteTest to that shown last year, the event will be made an annual one. Already, in anticipation of this, cyclists in all parts of New Zealand are preparing for the race, and it is certain that this year's entries for the valuable prizes will total about 200. Also it is practically assured that representatives from Australia will be amonjr't the competitors. The valuable challenge cup, valued at 50 guineas, pre-' sented by the Britannia Motor and Cycle Supplies, Ltd., which is the property of the committee so long as the race is conducted annually, is at present on (exhibition in Christcihurcn, before being returned here. The committee has called la public meeting of all interested in this gear's race, to be held in the Town Hall ! to-morrow night, when it is hoped that [there will be a full attendance of business people and others interested in keeping the town in the forefront.
