Prior to the surrender of the Rhodes garrison, numbering 1800, the Italians landed two columns at night time, which eo-operated with a third in surprising the Iwks and driving them, after a sharp fight, into ravines. The only retreat therefrom was commanded by the guns *i the warships. •Eighty-three Turks were killed and Iwenty-six wounded. Ameglis telegraphs that all the Turkish troops on the island are prisoners. Be adds that the officers have been allowed to retain their swords, in recognition of their gallant conduct.
The despatches evoked unbounded enthusiasm in both Chambers.
