LAKE COLERIDGE POWER. By Telegraph—Press Association. Ohristchurch, May 15. Work on the Lake Coleridge hydroelectric scheme is proceeding steadily. The tunnel is in 200 feet, 80 feet from the main ventilating shaft, which is now down 64 feet. The water supply is well forward, and excavation for the reservoir is proceeding. SPORTS PROTECTION. Te Kuiti, May 15. A meeting held last night formed a branch of the Sports Protection League. The organising secretary (Mr. Paape) delivered an address on the aims and objects of the league. The Mayor presided. Considerable interest was shown, and a large membership promised. Referring to the Auckland league, Mr. Paape said that if possible they would work together; they had no desire to conflict. SOCIETY OF FRIENDS. Christchurch, May 15. A conference of the Society of Friends, which has been sitting in Christchurch during the last few days, closed to-night with an address given by Miss Margaret Thorp, of Liverpool, on the Young Friends' movement in Croat Britain, at Woodbrook and Swanwieh settlements. It was shown that there was a general and deep-rooted desire on the part of the younger portion of the society to realise to the fullest extent the life of spiritual power which so distingushed .the founders of the society and their true followers in later history. Other speakers followed, showing how a wave of the new life was spreading to the Southern Hemisphere, and all were urged to do their share in helping its advance. ' ,
