(From Our Waitara Correspondent). The usual fortnightly sitting of the S.M. Court took place on Tuesday before Mr. Crooke. S.M. For allowing cattle to stray on the Clifton county roads, Thos. Wright and Thos. Lee, both of whom sent a -written plea of guilty, were each fined 10s and 25s (id costs. Mr. J. E. Wilson appeared for the Council, who did not press for a heavy penalthy. Judgment by default was entered in the following cases:—Rowe'v. Karamiko, claim £5 !>s (id, costs £2 13s 6d; Dunbar v. E. Thompson, claim £2 Is Bd, coats 19s. In the judgment summons, Dong Lee v. Pona Thompson, defendant was ordered to pay the sum of £5 17s 5d within one week, in default one week's imprisonment. An application for a separation order and maintenance by Maria Sheeny (Mr. Hutchen) against John Shechy (Mr. Roy) was adjourned till next Court day. The many friends of Mr. W. Old, who recently had a leg amputated, were very pleased to see him in Waitara on Tuesday.
Both sheep and cattle continue to be brought along to the freezing works. So far as sheep are concerned the season has been easily, a record one, over 100,000 having been slaughtered this season. It is expected that a fair number of both mounted and infantry members of the local corps will go to the Waverley encampment.
