ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES
LOVELORN. By Telegraph—Press Association. Taihape, Yesterday. John Albert Tickner, a laborer, thirty years of age, committed suicide by hanging in a woodshed. The body was found early this morning. From a note left in a pocket-book it appears that deceased's mind was unhinged through the breaking off of his engagement on Monday. The evidence at the inquest disclosed that deceased was a sober man. No other cause was apparent. Deceased came from Auckland. MAORI VETERAN SUICIDES. Feilding, Yesterday. R. K. Bradbury, clerk of the Halcombe Town Board, was found dead last evening in a paddock. He had a gunshot wound in the abdomen. He was last seen alive in the morning, when he was in possession of a double-barrelled gun. He had been much worried lately, and it is supposed that he had lost his reason. Deceased had fought through the Maori war, and was in receipt of a military pension. He leayes a wife and two grown-up children. ACCIDENT TO GENERAL GODLEY. Dunedin, Last Night. Major-Genral Godley had the misfortune to meet with a slight accident while inspecting the 12th Otago Mounted Rilles at Balclutha to-day, his horse falling and rolling on his foot. The General sustained a strained ankle. He came on to Dunedin by the evening express, and as he is confined to his room his departure will be delayed for a day or eo.
